Columbus Day Classic Rules

Format

- One - 25 Minute (Stop Time) period of play

Modified NCAA rules 

- Delayed Off-Sides 

- Teams can ice the puck while playing shorthanded 

Penalties 

- Minor: 1 minutes 

- Major: 3 minutes + player is removed from the game

Running Time

- If a 5 goal spread exists - running time will ensue. If at any point the lead is cut to 2 goals, the clock will stop again 

Tied Games 

- Games cannot end in a tie. If the game is tied at the end of the regulation, a 3-player shootout will commence. If there is still no winner, a sudden death shootout will take place.  

- No shooter may shoot twice before every player on the bench has shot once. Players serving a penalty at the conclusion of the game may NOT shoot in the shootout. 

Point System

- 3 points for a regulation win

- 2 points for a shootout win

- 1 point for a shootout loss 

- 0 points for a regulation loss 

Format

- Seeds 1 and 2 will advance to the finals, seeds 3 and 4 will play a consolation game

- A player may not participate on more than one team within the same age division, regardless of Tier classification.

- A player may participate on two teams in different age classifications (for example, U12 and U14). 

- Any team found using an ineligible player will forfeit all games in which that player participated. The ineligible player will also be suspended for the remainder of the event.
